Granted, late night isn’t quite the good ol’ boys’ network it’s made out to be. Minorities have hosted shows over the years—Whoopi Goldberg, Keenen Ivory Wayans, even Magic Johnson—but most to little success. The exception is Arsenio Hall, who became an unexpected phenomenon during his four-year run in the early ’90s. Twenty years later, it seems like minority late-night talk-show hosts would have a better shot at breaking through, but given these particular hosts, we’re probably not witnessing the birth of the next Arsenio.

Lisa Niemi on Patrick Swayze: ‘I Felt Like He Hasn’t Left’

Lisa Niemi was candid with Oprah about her husband Patrick Swayze’s recent death, and their life together on Friday’s live episode of "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Lisa told Oprah that Patrick was given three months or less to live when he was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago, but managed to hang on for 22 months. Lisa explained that she only allowed herself to cry one time in front of Patrick, when he was first diagnosed: "When we first had the diagnosis, I cried in front of him. I said, this is the one time I’m going to do this. … When he looked at me and looked in my eyes, I wanted him to know he was going to be OK, no matter what. … Both of us had to deal with this illness but he’s the one that was going to pay the ultimate price."

When it came to life after death, Lisa said of Patrick, "He also had this very realistic side, where he said I can’t be 100 percent sure, but I’m gonna find out."

Musicians Rocked and Rolled All Night

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees from years past rocked out Thursday night at Madison Square Garden in celebration of the institution. Lasting more than five hours, the concert featured performances by Simon & Garfunkel (1990), Crosby, Stills and Nash (1997), Jeff Beck (2009), James Taylor (2000), Bonnie Raitt (2000), and Sting (with the Police, 2003). Stevie Wonder, John Legend and Bruce Springsteen also took the stage. Many of the artists used their time in the spotlight to showcase covers of legendary songs and musicians.

Reese Witherspoon to Produce and Star in ‘Rule #1′

Reese Witherspoon is adding another producing title to her resume. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar-winning actress will not only produce, but star in ‘Rule #1.’

The movie is about a woman in New York who becomes friends with a Puerto Rican girl diagnosed with attention deficit disorder.

Stars and Pinstripes at Game 2 of World Series

The Yankees attract star power on and off the field. Jay-Z and Alicia Keys hit it out of the park Thursday night with their collaboration on “Empire State of Mind.” John Legend hit the perfect pitch, singing the national anthem.

Avid Yankee supporters Kate Hudson and Rudy Giuliani were also spotted in the stands.

‘Thriller’ Director and Producer Say Michael Jackson Owes Money

The director and producer of the iconic "Thriller" music video are less than thrilled. George Folsey, Jr., the video’s producer, filed a claim on Thursday stating that he is due more than $1 million for his contribution.

An attorney for director John Landis also made a claim on Thursday against Michael Jackson’s estate. He believes to be owed more than $1.3 million.

Landis also filed a suit to prevent Jackson from pursuing additional "Thriller" projects, such as a musical theater production. The cases continue to be pending.

Manager: Dennis Hopper Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer

Dennis Hopper’s manager says the star has prostate cancer.

The 73-year-old Oscar nominee is calling off his travel plans in order to receive treatment in a "special program" at the University of Southern California, his manager Sam Maydew tells the Associated Press.

“We’re hoping for the best,” Maydew says of the actor’s prognosis.

Percy Jackson Electrifies Hollywood with World’s First ‘Lightning Billboard’

A mythical young hero is headed to the big screen, and Hollywood is literally lighting up in anticipation.

On Wednesday, the world’s first "lightning billboard" debuted in Tinseltown to celebrate the upcoming debut of ‘Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.’

In the world of Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), mythical ancient Greek gods and goddesses are real. Percy himself is the son of Poseidon (Kevin McKidd), while another character, Annabeth (Alexandra Daddario), is the daughter of Athena. In ‘The Lightning Thief,’ Percy finds himself accused by Zeus, the king of the gods, of stealing his lightning bolt. Percy has to find the real thief, and also save his mother from the evil hands of the lord of the underworld, Hades. The film is based on the first book in the Percy Jackson series, written by Rick Riordan.
